Dr. Chauncey Crandall is a renowned cardiologist, who believes in using every possible tool, to help patients ward off heart problems. Other than prescribing drugs, conducting tests, performing medical procedures, and recommending exercise, he also recommends his patients to adopt a spiritual lifestyle.
Dr. Crandall has always been a firm believer in Christ, and his career as a heart doctor made him conclude that going to church, is an effective therapy for treating heart problems.
In fact, to prove this theory he wrote the story of one of his patients whom he calls ‘Alligator Annie’. Annie was managing a country store and always kept a shotgun to scare alligators away.
She was suffering from hypertension, and no medication was able to bring her high blood pressure down. Dr. Crandall tried many different methods to ease her down, but he failed. Then, Dr. Crandall realized that she was suffering from anxiety.
Eventually, Dr. Crandall asked Annie if she could pray. She agreed and started going to church. A year and a half later, her blood pressure readings were under control. But this is not the only case, in which participating in religious activities actually made a patient physically healthy.
During his long career, many incidences led Dr. Crandall to observe and believe in the power of Prayer and Spirituality. Follow us on facebook & twitter for more updates
